I try to make sense whenever possible. I know that goes against the grain of our society at the moment, but I'm just a wild and craaaaazy guy.
Cheers

Unbelievable I never realized it was a weighted bat. But what you explain about performance makes so much sense.
Thanks John

Bobby: Are you saying it's better for players to THINK they are swinging faster even if they are actually swinging SLOWER? The fact that players swing slower after swinging with a bat weight is not my belief, it is the result of scientific studies such as the one linked in the blog.

Hmmm, not sure I will agree with this. I think a lot of guys use the donut or other weight to loosen up the muscles and yeah, perhaps it's a placebo effect whereby you think you're quicker and the mind being the most powerful muscle. And I think hitting being 90% mental, so long as the mechanics are sound which a lot of players are not, it is best to convince yourself you're swinging quicker due to the weighted swings.

It would be interesting for someone to put together a scientific study to back up your belief but not sure it could be fully measurable due to the mental aspect.

Hi Dana: While I agree with over and under weight training, I still think those things should be done in a training environment and not in comptetition. I think it can confuse the minds timing mechanism at the plate. That is why I like the idea of only swinging your regular bat just before going to the plate.

One report suggested there are fast and slow muscles fibers . To activate fast muscle fibers to swing faster use a light weight bat for warm up.
